Stress is something everybody experiences. A certain amount is good, it keeps you on your toes. Too much stress causes strain and can lead to illness.

What tells you that you could be too stressed?

  • Headaches
  • Difficulty sleeping
  • Sweaty hands
  • Feeling run down
  • Eating more or less food
  • Smoking or drinking more
  • Fidgeting
  • Always rushing about
  • Being grumpy

This usually means things are out of balance

What can help?

Immediate

  • Go for a walk
  • Punch a pillow
  • Count to 10
  • Talking with a friend
  • Having a bubble bath
  • Smile

Long Term

Skills like:

  • Time management
  • Being assertive
  • Regular physical activity... Sport, cycling, swimming, dancing…
  • Making time for yourself e.g. join a club or take up a hobby
